Shannon's journey to create this haven for book lovers is rooted in her lifelong love affair with books and her dedication to building strong communities.
Shannon is not just a business owner; she is an embodiment of the values and passions that define The Lakewood Bookstore. Her story, which began with a burning desire to read and explore the world through words, led her to pursue a Master's in History from the University of Nebraska-Kearney. For Shannon, history isn't just a timeline of dates and places; it's a rich tapestry of stories and communities, much like the world of books she brings to your doorstep.
Shannon's life experiences, including two decades as a military spouse, have instilled in her a profound understanding of the importance of community ties. She has worn many hats in various places, receiving accolades such as the National Infantry Association's Shield of Sparta, the TRADOC Margaret C. Corbin award, and the U.S. Cavalry & Armor Association's Order of Saint Joan D'Arc. Her dedication to service and community is reflected in every aspect of The Lakewood Bookstore.
Shannon grew up in Washington State and her family moved to Lakewood in 2018. During the intervening years and subsequent moves around the globe, she learned one of the fastest ways to make new friends was through reading. Books were shared, exchanged, discussed and enjoyed and created a basis of connection that led to lasting friendships.
